How do I set custom Ethereum network fees?

The custom fee you choose is the maximum fee that you might pay. In many cases, the gas for your transaction will cost less than the fee chosen, and any extra ETH will be returned to your wallet.

Mobile

In your Ethereum wallet, tap on the Settings icon in the top right corner.

Toggle on Custom Fees.

Tap on the Send icon.

a) Enter the amount you wish to send, and b) tap Enter.

Tap on Advanced.

Now you will see a slider:

  • a) Slide it to the left to pay a lower fee (will confirm slower)
  • b) Slide it to the right to pay a higher fee (will confirm faster)
  • c) You can also click manually input your custom fee by tapping the Pencil icon.

Desktop

In your Ethereum wallet, click Send.

Web3 Wallet

In your Ethereum wallet, click Send.

a) Paste in the address you want to send the funds to, then enter the amount you wish to send. To set a custom fee, b) click on the arrow next to Estimated Network Fee.

a) Use the slider to set your custom fee, then b) click Confirm. Note that a lower transaction fee will take longer to confirm, and if the fee is too low your transaction could get stuck. A transaction with a higher fee will confirm faster.

After you have set your custom fee, you can send your transaction. For more information about how to send crypto, see: How do I send crypto on Web3 Wallet?

What should I do if my Ethereum or ERC20 transaction is stuck?

If you set your custom transaction fee too low, your transaction might take a long time to confirm or get stuck pending.

Don’t worry! Exodus has a feature to accelerate stuck transactions.

You will need some ETH in your wallet to pay the extra transaction fee. If you don’t have any ETH, you will not be able to accelerate your transaction.

Mobile

Open your Ethereum or ERC20 wallet and find the transaction that has gotten stuck pending.

Tap on it to see more details, then tap Accelerate.

You will see the amount needed to accelerate your transaction. To proceed, tap Confirm.

In the mobile wallet, custom fees must be toggled on in order to see the Accelerate option.

Desktop

Open your Ethereum or ERC20 wallet and find the transaction that has gotten stuck pending.

Click on it to see more details. Exodus will automatically calculate a higher transaction fee to successfully send your stuck transaction. This fee will be deducted from your Ethereum balance as soon as you click Accelerate. If you would like to proceed, click Accelerate.

Web3 Wallet

Open your Ethereum or ERC20 wallet and tap on the transaction that is stuck pending.

Tap Accelerate.

You will see the amount needed to accelerate your transaction. To proceed, tap Confirm.
