In this article:
What is the BNB Smart Chain ecosystem?
The BNB Smart Chain (BSC) ecosystem is everything built on the BSC network. It comprises BEP20 tokens, NFTs, DEXs, DeFi dApps, and every other type of Web3 app you can think of.
It is worth noting that Binance has 2 different chains, BNB Beacon Chain, which is separate, and used for governance, and BNB Smart Chain, which hosts the ecosystem this article focuses on.
Tokens that run on BNB Smart Chain are called BEP20 tokens.
BNB Smart Chain was initially launched as Binance Smart Chain in September 2020 and was later rebranded in 2022 to BNB Smart Chain (BSC).
If you’re looking for blockchain and transaction data, the most popular block explorer for BSC is BscScan.
One thing to be aware of while participating in the BSC ecosystem is that you will need BNB on the BSC network to cover the gas fees to fuel your transactions. The specific amount needed to cover your transaction will depend on the type of transaction, and how busy the network is. You can always check current fees on BscScan’s BSC Gas Tracker.
From buying BNB to swapping your BEP20 tokens to pet battles, here is an introduction to everything you can do on BSC.
BscScan and BSC Gas Tracker are not affiliated with Qadirah. As such, Qadirah cannot guarantee that the steps shown and the information provided will always be accurate.
How do I connect to Binance Smart Chain dApps and Web3 apps?
First of all, what are dApps and Web3 apps? They’re like any other app, except they’re built using blockchain technology like smart contracts. Instead of signing in with a username and password, you connect with a crypto wallet.
All dApps are Web3 apps, but not all Web3 apps are decentralized, so ‘Web3 app’ is the umbrella term used for any app you connect to with a crypto wallet. If you’d like to learn more, visit: What are dApps and Web3 apps?
