Monero (XMR) hard fork FAQs

The Monero network underwent an upgrade at block 2,688,888, which took place on August 13th, 2022. Qadirah Desktop now has the latest and greatest from Monero!

What happened with the Monero hard fork?

Monero got a glow up!

The hard fork, or network upgrade, took place at block 2,688,888. This block occurred on Saturday, August 13th, 2022.

The upgrade introduced important new features and improvements such as:

  • A ring-size increase from 11 to 16. This is the largest increase in the base anonymity set (plausible deniability, or base privacy) for every transaction on the network.
  • Upgraded Bulletproofs algorithm. “Bulletproofs+” will reduce the typical transaction size by ~5-7% and improve typical verification performance by ~5-7%, making every transaction lighter and faster.
  • View tags, which will reduce wallet sync times by 30-40%
  • Fee changes to improve the security of the network (especially for rapidly changing market conditions or attacks by malicious entities)
  • Multi-sig fixes and improvements, including critical security patches
