What is the Polygon ecosystem?
Polygon, formerly known as the Matic Network, was founded in 2017. Polygon is a layer-2 scaling solution that runs alongside the Ethereum blockchain.
Polygon (MATIC) is Polygon’s primary cryptocurrency, which is used to pay for transaction fees, also known as gas. You can also stake MATIC. MATIC has a limited supply, with about 7.4 billion in circulation. There will never be more than 10 billion coins in circulation.
The Polygon ecosystem is comprised of Polygon tokens, NFTs, DEXs, DeFi dApps, and every other type of Web3 app you can think of.
If you’re looking for blockchain data, the most popular block explorer for Polygon is PolygonScan
